Gramext runs quick AI actions (reply, polish, summarize, translate) against text you select in any desktop app, so you don't have to switch tools to get writing help.

Sign in with Google or Microsoft, or an email and password, through a secure browser flow. If you opened this from the desktop app, it hands the session back automatically once you've authenticated.

Your settings and history are cached locally when you use the desktop app, and also stored in your account so they sync across devices and stay available in the browser. Sensitive fields are encrypted at rest. Your custom action prompts and saved history are visible only to you — other users and Gramext staff/administrators have no interface in the product to view them. See the Privacy Policy page for the full breakdown of what's processed and where it's stored.

Gramext is built with Tauri 2. The Windows desktop app is available now with a signed installer and automatic updates; macOS and Linux builds are in progress. You can sign in via browser on any platform right now to use the full workspace today.

Partly. Capturing a screenshot and extracting its text runs entirely offline, on your device. Running an AI action itself needs an internet connection, since it calls Gramext's servers to enforce your plan and generate the response.

A generated file (like an AI-created image) is sent to your device for you to download, but it isn't saved to your Action History — only the input text that produced it is kept there. Download the file from the actions popup before closing it; once the popup closes, the file itself is gone for good.

Free gives you 20 credits every month, 10 requests per day, built-in actions, and 2 custom actions of your own. No card required.

You'll need to wait until the next day to run more actions on Free - unless you buy extra credits, which lift the daily limit immediately, or upgrade to Starter or Pro, which have no daily limit at all.

Yes. Starter ($7.99/mo) and Pro ($13.99/mo) add more monthly credits, custom actions, and broader model access.

Free keeps 1 desktop device signed in at a time, Starter allows 2, and Pro allows 4. Signing in on a new device past your limit automatically signs out whichever connected device has been idle the longest.

You can permanently delete your account from Settings → Danger zone. This deactivates it and cancels any subscription immediately; your data is kept for 30 days in case you change your mind, then permanently removed.

If you deleted your own account, sign back in within 30 days and use the "Undo deletion" button in Settings — no ticket needed. If an admin deactivated your account instead, use the "File a restoration request" link on the Settings or Help page and we'll take care of it.

Click "Forgot password?" on the sign-in page and we'll email you a reset link. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft instead, there's no separate Gramext password to reset — just sign in through that provider.

Press it from anywhere on your desktop to open the actions popup, even while another app is focused. The default is Ctrl+Alt+P, and you can set your own in Settings → Workspace defaults. If nothing is selected, it opens straight to the custom instruction screen by default.

Captures a screen region and extracts its text offline, without sending the image anywhere. It's currently fixed to Ctrl+Alt+M and isn't configurable yet.

When on, selecting text with your mouse in any app opens the actions popup automatically, without needing the hotkey. It's off by default so the popup only opens when you ask for it.

When on, double- or triple-clicking to select a word or paragraph opens the actions popup too, not just a mouse drag. It's a separate toggle from drag-selection, so you can turn either on independently.

Flips "Open after selecting text with the mouse" on or off from anywhere, without opening Settings. The default is Ctrl+Alt+Space, and you can set your own in Settings → Workspace defaults.

Hold Shift down while selecting text with your mouse, until you release the mouse button, and the actions popup won't open for that selection — handy in places like a browser address bar where you don't want it to trigger. Works for both drag-selection and double-/triple-click selection, and isn't configurable to a different key yet.

It's the small link on the main shortcut, screenshot shortcut, "Open after selecting text with the mouse", and "Open on double- or triple-click selection" cards. Click it to choose what that specific trigger opens to when there's a selection — the actions list, the custom instruction box, or a specific action — independently of the others.

English and other Latin-alphabet languages are recognized out of the box. Other scripts (Russian, Chinese, Arabic, and similar) fall back to Windows' built-in OCR, which only covers languages you've added support for. If a non-Latin capture comes back empty or incorrect, open Windows Settings → Time & language → Language & region and check that the language you need has its "Optical character recognition" feature installed.

An alternative to closing on blur: instead of closing, the popup minimizes and keeps whatever it was doing (an in-progress instruction, a result) intact until you bring it back, either by triggering the popup again or restoring it from the taskbar. Turning this on disables "Close the actions popup on blur" below, since only one of the two applies at a time.

When on, the popup closes automatically as soon as it loses focus, e.g. by clicking elsewhere. Turn it off to keep the popup open until you close it yourself, which is useful if you need to switch windows mid-task. Disabled while "Minimize the actions popup on blur" above is on.

This is the model used for any action that doesn't specify its own model. You can still override it per action when editing that action's settings. Your plan determines which models are available to choose from.

The Actions table lets you edit, reorder (drag and drop), hide, or delete any action, and reset a built-in action back to its original prompt if you've changed it. Hidden actions stay saved and configured, they just won't show up in the popup. Free can create up to 2 custom actions; Starter and Pro have no limit.

When on, every generation is saved to your History page so you can revisit it later. Turning it off skips both history and the response cache, so nothing from that session is stored or reused.

By default, Gramext reuses a cached response if you run the same action on the same text again, at no extra cost. Turning this on skips that cache and calls the model every time, which spends credits on each run even for repeated input.

Set a width and height in Settings → Popup size (from 280x260px up to 720x640px), or open the live preview and drag its edges or corners to resize it visually. The default is 416x394px, and there's a one-click reset back to that.

Open the built-in Translate action in Settings → Actions and edit it. If your plan allows editing built-in prompts, change the language named in the prompt directly; otherwise you'll see a dedicated "Target language" field that does the same thing. It defaults to English.

Yes. Upgrades apply immediately with new monthly credits added right away. Downgrades take effect at your next renewal so you keep what you already paid for.

Yes. Cancel from the Membership page or the Stripe billing portal at any time — your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period, then moves to Free automatically.

Card payments, processed securely through Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

Plan changes take effect immediately on upgrade and at the end of the billing period on downgrade or cancellation, so there's no partial-period charge to refund. If something went wrong with a charge, contact us and we'll sort it out.

Yes, on any plan, paid or free. Extra credits cost $0.005 each (between 200-1000 credits per purchase) and never expire. That per-credit rate is higher than a subscription's bundled rate (e.g. Starter works out to about $0.0027/credit) - top-ups trade that premium for no commitment, so if you need extra credits every month, upgrading is usually the cheaper option.

No — credits track each model's real cost, so a fast everyday model spends far fewer credits than a top-tier one on the same request. Stick to the default, lower-cost model for routine actions and switch to a pricier one only when you need the extra quality.

Yes, meaningfully more. An image response spends several times as many credits as a typical text action, so the same monthly credits go a lot further on text than on images.
